ജോസ് പ്രകാശ് ഇനി ഒരു ഓർമ്മ...

മലയാളസിനിമയുടെ ഇന്നലെകളിലെ ഒരു മുഖം കൂടി ഓര്‍മയിലേക്ക്.

 

 കോട്ടയം മുന്‍സിഫ് കോടതിയില്‍ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനായിരുന്ന കോട്ടയം കുന്നേല്‍ കെ. ജെ. ജോസഫിന്റെയും ഏലിയാമ്മയുടെയും മകനായി 1925 ഏപ്രില്‍ 14ന് ജനിച്ച കെ. ജെ. ജോസഫാണ് ജോസ്​പ്രകാശായി മലയാളത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളിത്തിരയെ വിറപ്പിച്ചത്. ബേബി എന്നായിരുന്നു വിളിപ്പേര്. ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരിയിലാണ് ജനിച്ചതെങ്കിലും പിതാവിന്റെ ഉദ്യോഗാര്‍ഥം കോട്ടയത്തേക്ക് താമസം മാറ്റുകയായിരുന്നു. കോട്ടയം സേക്രഡ് ഹാര്‍ട്ട് മൗണ്ട് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സ്‌കൂളിലായിരുന്നു പ്രാഥമിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം. 

 രണ്ടാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധ കാലത്ത് പട്ടാളത്തില്‍ ചേര്‍ന്നു. 1942ല്‍ ലാന്‍സ് നായിക്കായി പഞ്ചാബിലെ ഫിറോസ്​പൂരിലെത്തി.ബംഗാളിലെ വര്‍ഗീയലഹള അവസാനിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള ആഹ്വാനവുമായി മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധി ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ നടത്തിയ നിരാഹാര സത്യാഗ്രഹത്തില്‍, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് സംരക്ഷണം നല്‍കാന്‍ നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഏഴ് പട്ടാളക്കാരില്‍ ഒരാള്‍ ജോസ്​പ്രകാശായിരുന്നു.

കാതടപ്പിക്കുന്ന വാദ്യഘോഷത്തിന്റെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ കോട്ടും സ്യട്ടുമിട്ടു ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പറഞ്ഞു രംഗപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യുന്ന ജോസ് പ്രകാശ് എന്ന വില്ലനു മാത്രമേ മലയാളിയുടെ മനസ്സിലിടമുണ്ടായിട്ടുള്ളൂ.

പാട്ടും കൂത്തുമെല്ലാം നിഷിദ്ധമായ വില്ലന്മാരുടെ തലമുറയിലെ ഈ കാരണവര്‍ പക്ഷേ, വെള്ളിത്തിരയിലേക്ക് കാലെടുത്തുവച്ചത് പാട്ടുപാടിക്കൊണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഒരര്‍ഥത്തില്‍ പറഞ്ഞാല്‍ ഈയൊരു പാരമ്പര്യം അവകാശപ്പെടാനുള്ള ഒരേയൊരു നടനും ഗായകനും ജോസ് പ്രകാശായിരിക്കും. പാട്ടു പാടുന്ന നടന്മാരില്‍ നിന്നും അഭിനയ പ്രതിഭ തെളിയിച്ച പാട്ടുകാരില്‍ നിന്നും എല്ലാം കൊണ്ടും വ്യത്യസ്തനായിരുന്നു ജോസ് പ്രകാശ്.
